American idiot: funeral version
Visto?
Take my breath away
Devo commentarlo? Sì? No, meglio di no…
Spiderman, Spiderman,
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web, any size,
Catches thieves just like flies
Look Out!
Here comes the Spiderman.
Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig,
Does whatever a Spider-Pig does.
Can he swing, from a web?
No he can’t, he’s a pig,
Look out!
He is a Spider-Pig
OT: Oh, adesso ragioniamo! Justin Timberlake, mamma che figo!
Justin prendimi! Sono qui!

Uh, it’s been a long time since my last post, I know. I was really busy during the weekend with Isabelle visiting and yesterday I had to write some reports that kept me away from my blog. But now your favourite worst nightmare is back, well and sound, ready to write something about his vibrant life
Actually, I started yesterday writing this post but then I had again a couple of meetings and I’m finishing it now…
Isabelle was supposed to bring me some of my belongings I left in Berlin, but Carmine, who’s living in my flat didn’t manage to find my rucksack, nor my tea cups nor my iPod remote control, even if my instructions were accurate and/or well-timed. So bad
He’s an impiastro.
On Saturday, Isabelle and I strolled around the city for the most interesting and touristic places: it was quite weird for me… I never though I was going to live here and I never paid attention to where I exactly was, when I visited Amsterdam with Erik and Jörg, which is why I almost re-discovered the city and I continuously said
Oh! Here we are! Oh this is here!
I know it sounds weird, but it was really like that. We spent also a lot of time in touristic shops where Isabelle was looking for a cup for her collection and where she bought also some cookies and candies with hemp (what else?).
In the afternoon we were around Niewmarkt (and the Red Light District) and we had a sandwich and fresh juice at Latei a nice place on the Zeedijk where everything is sold: tables, chairs, ornaments… all with a strong retro flair. After my sandwich with humus Isabelle gave me a candy with hemp which didn’t taste bad but as soon as I went out the bar I was a bit confused… I still don’t know whether the candy or the sunlight was responsible… Later we walked through Bloemenmarkt to Leidseplein (close to which is my office) and to the Vondelpark, where we had some rest after the busy day. I was talking to Isabelle about a bike for 6 people when we heard some loud noise approaching: a bike-cafe for up to 17 people
I really wanna try it too!
We were so tired that we went home to eat something before going out later… This means, in other words, that we didn’t have a serious dinner (some chips, a bapao, small snacks) and we didn’t go out either: we plunged ourselves in the sofa, we watched to a couple of movies and TV shows and when Krijn informed me by sms that he and his bf were going home instead of enjoying the uitmarkt, we became even lazier… Shame on us… But we had so much fun, I really don’t regret it. I’m sure I have a lot of anecdotes more but I cannot remember them right now
On Sunday morning we went by tram to Spui (I don’t know if it’s just a street, or an area or probably an old canal now burrowed, Erik told me about it but I wasn’t really listening
) and precisely to the Begijnhof a nice and lovely courtyard in the middle of the city center. Walking towards the central station we stopped at the courtyard of the Amsterdam Historisch Museum and in all the shops on Calvenstraat and Nieuwendijk because Isabelle was looking for a bag (as all women do) and for a sweater against the cold breeze. Somehow we ended again in the Red Light District and Chinatown… mmm… I don’t remember how… Anyway, Isabelle had fun in a Chinese shop and we had a Chinese lunch too, not really delicious though. Later we took a boat tour on the canals with some tickets I got for free: the tickets were actually valid just for a short trip but nobody checked them and we stayed on the boat almost 2 hours
and the tickets are still valid now! I’m going to use them again and again and again… Some Italians were on the boat with us: a woman had a really strange accent we couldn’t identify. We thought she was either Swiss or Italian was not her mother tongue, but I wasn’t satisfied: I knew, her accent could have had a better explanation. Eventually Isabelle referred to her as countess and I couldn’t spot laughing… She was right
After a coffee at Singel 404 and some shopping we went to the Dam square to take the tram back home where we watched to the Simpsons Movie: sooo funny! Before we went to bed Isabelle watched a bit of Dutch TV, TMF (MTV-like channel), which broadcasted… Sabrina Salerno!!! Nooo, it’s a curse!
I had more things to blog about but I’m tired to write this post and I don’t want to bore you… Oh yes, the post’s title… Let me shortly explain: it’s a nice song by the Dutch group Bløf which is very succesful right now because it’s their last single. I love the song and especially its name: donker sounds like the German dunkel (dark), while hart sounds like the English heart… It’s a nice example how Dutch language is closely related to both English and German.
Bedenk je soms opeens:
Je doet het niet voor hun
Je doet het niet voor mij
En zelfs niet voor jezelf
Je bent de zin voorbij
Jij hebt een donker hart
Voelt je vaak verward
Maar dat wil niet zeggen
Dat alles dan
Alles dan
Alles dan ook meteen zinloos is

Are the days left until the new season, pardon, volume two of the series Heroes begins…
You don’t know what love is (you just do what you’re told)
Having a TV in the office is a nice way to improve our business: we have the possibility to check what the competition does, to be always up-to-date with the coolest and hottest music tracks. Well, luckily we don’t always have to listen to them, because one thing is to know that hip-hop is always en vogue, something else is to be bothered by it ![]()
TV is anyway very mesmerizing: the new single, Wake Up Call, by Maroon 5 (god bless Adam Levine’s parents) is so high rotating that I liked it even before I listened to the song. I got the whole album but… mmm… I’m not really convinced.
My tour through the American heroes has ended yesterday when I watched 4 -Rise of the Silver Surfer: a really bad movie. I didn’t like the plot, the characters and situations were not funny as in the previous episode, the actors’ performance disappointing… I didn’t find any single positive element. Mmm, well, some Michael Chiklis’ or Chirs Evans’ shots were actually worth it ![]()
Vediamo.
Wake me up when September ends
The movie (and anime) weekend continued yesterday too when I enjoyed the sky view from my living room, some Italian pastries (and also Dutch ones) and lazyness: I will have time to party and be crazy next weekend when Isabelle will be here visiting.
Just to be even more melancholic I watched The Bourne Supremacy, which is mainly set in Berlin and Moscow (and 5 minutes in Amsterdam too) with nice views over the cities. I usually don’t like action movies (with few exceptions like the first Mission: Impossible) but this one wasn’t really bad: I appreciated the plot even if it was almost too simple… I should probably watch also the first episode of the series: The Bourne Identity.
Later I watched also Haibane Renmei, an anime suggested by ilGrisa (who else?): it is very slow and philosophical but very interesting (not like RahXephon which is only slow slow slow and, yes, also slow
soon or later I will watch it too and I will say it’s fantastic, otherwise ilGrisa won’t host me in NYC anymore).
Somehow I was also devastated by other memories when I accidentally found my ex Davide in a chat… Wow, he was my boyfriend (for a very short time, like… mmm… 6 months probably) almost 8 or 9 years ago but it didn’t work out very well: we even split up with some resentment
he also called my mom at the phone asking
Where is that faggot of Giuseppe?
My mom didn’t even understand properly the word faggot
She’s probably still wondering what frosio means (in Italian faggot is frocio)…
Yes, my life is full of anecdctes ![]()
Although I don’t feel grudge anymore I didn’t contact him, I don’t know why, actually I’m wondering how his life’s going.
Beside this I also found on youtube the video of Electrasy’s Morning Afterglow, a pretty unknown song which I was often listening to while I was with Nicola…
Definitively the Sunday of the ex’s
I’m not going to post the video of Morning Afterglow, you can find it clicking on the link above, but this Dutch commercial which is also set in Berlin:
Since I had already a post named Morning afteglow I changed the name of this post into my second choice…
Fabulously lazy
Oh my (aubergine) god, I was really lazy today… I don’t know exactly why, I just didn’t feel like doing anything
The day wasn’t unproductive, the Bree in me did her job as usual, but for the rest of the time I was just on my own watching movies (I finally managed to watch Closer, which I really appreciated, just to discover that Jude Law is definitively British) and stuff like that.
My sister called me a couple of time today: she was supposed to be in Bamberg but she eventually went to Fulda first and then to München (Munich). She surprisingly appreciates Germany, although she never liked Berlin, but everyone knows, Berlin is not like the rest of Germany. Absolutely not like Southern Germany at least, that her friend Simone considers as his second home.
Yesterday I went after work with Sophie to Heinekenplein (only Dutchmen could name a square after a beer… ok… it’s not named after the beer, but it was funny to say
), which teems with bars and pubs, to have a drink together and with some friends of her.
We also had a small discussion about the German word for cheese. I won: it’s definitively der käse, not die käse.
Never thought I’d get any higher
Never thought you’d fuck with my brain
Never thought all this could expire
Never thought you’d go break the chain
Me and you baby,
Still flush all the pain away
So before I end my day
Remember
My sweet prince
You are the one
My sweet prince
You are the one
XVII
Today is Friday the 17th, an unlucky day, says the Italian tradition: should I believe in it? Perhaps I should avoid both Friday, the 13th and the 17th… Just to be sure, you know… ![]()
Among the many explanations why the 13 should be unlucky, this is the one I like the most:
Thirteen may be considered a bad number simply because when a group of 13 objects or people is divided into two, three, four or six equal groups, there is always one leftover, or unlucky, object or person.
On the other hand I’m quite sure that 17 (is the number of syllables in a haiku) is unlucky because written as XVII in roman numerals, which is an anagram of vixi = I lived = I’m dead. Tricky, isn’t it? ![]()
Anyway, I usually don’t have bad luck on Friday, the 17th (but the day is still long), maybe because I’m unlucky enough during the other days of the year ![]()
Miss Felica Traske has lately been so lucky to find the name of god written on a slice of aubergine… I always despised aubergines. Pfui.
Anyway, speaking about food… yesterday I had to tidy up all the delicious things that my sister brought from Italy: almost 9 liters of different olive oils from Sicily (my favourite), Tuscany and Apulia; balsamic vinegar; taralli; pizzocheri; friselle; pane carasau, and many other things I don’t remember right now. Mmm, so delicious! I guess I’m going to organize a dinner with Italian food anytime soon
After dinner I watched with her and her friend Simone a bit of Dutch TV and what did I find? Heroes
Luckily one of the best episode: Homecoming. I also found out that, obviously, when Hiro speaks, there are only Dutch subtitles! Well, I don’t mind… I’m not going to wait for the Dutch version anyway…
